Rick Stevens is appointed to the Board of Directors of Verity Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that enables organizations to maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment. Mr. Stevens will serve on Verity’s nominating and corporate governance committee as well as serve as the chairman of Verity’s audit committee.

Rick Stevens becomes a member of the City of Menlo Park Environmental Quality Commission which is charged with advising the City Council on matters of environmental protection and improvement, sustainable practices and policies, physical appearance of city properties and historic preservation.

David Johnson becomes associated with the firm. Mr. Johnson brings over twenty-five years of finance and accounting experience in a range of environments including start-up, public and private companies (including both corporate and operating roles) as well as public accounting. As a former Chief Financial Officer of a publicly traded company, he has been responsible for various finance and administrative functions including CFO responsibilities during the Initial Public Offering process.

The firm's compliance team consists of former big-five audit partners, senior executives and regulatory officials who establish procedures to assist management and the board comply with the new regulations established by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.

Hunter Stevens is included in the American Arbitration Association's launch of New Independent Fact-Finding Service. June 4, 2002 the AAA announces a new service offering: AAA Independent Fact Finding Services.
This landmark fact-finding service offers a new alternative to using traditional internal resources on existing outside counsel to respond to a potential on emerging crises for cooperation and not-for-profit organizations.
Hunter Stevens is listed as one of a handful of forensic accountants that will work with the 15-person panel consisting of former US Attorney Generals, General Counsels to major corporations, and judges.

Hunter Stevens has been jointly engaged by plaintiffs counsel and defendants to oversee the settlement process and render opinions concerning whether a defendant has properly identified class members and benefits they are entitled to under the terms and conditions of the settlement agreement.

Stevens steps down as the Treasurer of Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee. Rick Stevens turned over the reins of the treasurer position to a partner at KPMG Peat Marwick. Stevens remains a member of BASOC's Board of Directors. BASOC is the group representing Northern California's bid to hold the Summer Olympics here in 2012.

Owners of the Oakland A's decide not to sell. The group formed by Michael Lazarus (Managing Director of Hunter Stevens) and Cy Young award winner and Chicago Cubs' broadcaster, Steve Stone, and included former New York Yankees' General Manager Bob Watson, was unsuccessful in its attempt to acquire the Oakland A's baseball franchise when the current owners decided not to sell the team.
